Rumour: Naughty Dog’s Troubled The Last of Us Multiplayer PS5 Project Was Sniped by Bungie

Date:

You may be asking why Bungie is getting mixed up in Naughty Dog’s work. Well, when Sony revealed its plan to acquire the former Halo studio in January 2022, it did so with the intention of having the developer oversee its live service endeavours. Sony brought up the concept of a ‘SIE Live Service Centre of Excellence’ shortly after the buyout was announced.

In short, then, it’s suggested that Bungie’s been brought in to preview Naughty Dog’s project — and it wasn’t convinced by what it saw. As a result, Sony’s put the brakes on and the whole thing’s now being reassessed.

Are you still holding out hope for the new Factions multiplayer? What do you make of Bungie’s role in all of this? Feel free to raise an eyebrow in the comments section below.
